Today I read this small epiphany in a New York magazine article about Indian-style arranged marriage and its internet personals American equivalent:

That's not to say I haven't come to appreciate what Indian men have to offer, which is a type of seriousness, a clarity of intent. I've never heard from an Indian man the New York beg-off phrase "I don't think I'm ready for a relationship right now. I have a lot of things going on in my life."
Indian men also seem to share my belief that Westerners have made the progression toward marriage unnecessarily agonizing. Neal, a 35-year-old Indian lawyer I know, thinks it's absurd how a couple in America can date for years and still not know if they want to get married. "I think I would only need a couple of months to get to know a girl before I married her,"he says.

I like that part about the progression being unnecessarily agonizing. Here in America people who get married after a relatively short dating period are looked upon as impulsive if not insane, but I know plenty of folk for whom this has not proven disastrous. Granted they're all russian immigrashan...but russians are human too.

Anyway, read the whole thing here:

http://newyorkmetro.com/nymetro/news/culture/features/11621/index.html

Ham isn't just out of the blue-ing this you know, her brother just got married. I was there too, yes indeed my Cheesiness did attend. But in other news (since I'm sure she has much to ham about the wedding) I'd like to point you to an article in Salon magazine with which Ham and I stolknulis on monday eve totally by accident. The amazing thing is (and this requires you reading it, Ron) is that I was one of those kids. I used to be a Zeke when I would visit there, minus the baseball which I did not like and the pizza that I just started eating last week. Aside from the employees at your local DMV, Hedy and Laura are the nicest and coolest people in the world. I met them when I would go to Berkeley in the summers growing up and they would make it the time of my life. They have a wonderful house and wonderful cats and they smell nice. The end.

A pattern emerges, Ham writes in regular letters, while Cheese sticks to italics, but this might change, everything might change, remember, this is our ONLY sphere of control so it is liable to abuse, and abuse it we will.

Civic Duty Purgatory

I was in jury duty all day. From 8:30 til 4:30 and then I got a lil piece of paper that says I don't have to return for another six years!
I was a bit dissapointed that I didn't get to go through the official process of being questioned, but that's ok. The worst part was being bored out of my mind even though I had reading material and I even started writing my personal essay for my graduate class.

So I'd like to thank Natalie for spending a good two hours with me and giving me a ride home. I'm glad I took her advice and wore black pants (to avoid standing out and to show respect for the institution). Natalie, you're an inspiration.

Today is also the 15th anniversary of my family's arrival in America. How cute to celebrate it at the courthouse, helping out our nation by "not just sitting around wasting your time" as the young, nubile Diane Sawyer will have you know in the morning jurydutyselectionpropagandavideo.

There'll be drinks tonight.

Wouldn't it have been cute though, for Ham to have gotten mixed up in some trashy marital dispute, some gnoosny trivial dilemma, oh the stories we'd have had, the wonderfully renewed hatred for just about everybody else. Could've been fun.

See you in six years.

Takin' Care of Business

I've forgotten how wonderful it is to be absorbed in my work. After doing absolutely nothing though having to do lots and lots of writing this spring break, which sadly ends today, I have finally written a measly page and a half reaction "paper" for my Asian Philosophies class. Though it is often impossible for me to sit down and get myself to write I am surprised each and every time how not bad the experience is and how prelichno and lovely it is to be all caught up and hand stuff in when it's due.

While Ham is glowing in the eye of her procrastinatory hurricane, we here at the accordion dog would like to remind you that there is a wonderful fat pillow of a feline named Bootsie who is waiting patiently for your visit and possible adoption at the Long Beach animal shelter. That water in the air scene was pretty cool as well as the weird cameo-esque appearance by Sissy Spacek--a charming, completely unpredictable turn of casting.
I wonder what Mr.Cranky (the only reviewer to take seriously) gave this film.

Hmm... no need to wonder: http://mrcranky.com/movies/ring2.html
Cranky ,as usual,was not pleased.

Our evening concluded with the retrieval of Ron from Long Island City and feasting on a late dinner of classic diner offerings such as the grilled cheese sammich, the omelette, and chicken fingers.

--You know, she seems so objective and calm about it but this girl had actually had to sleep in her other room that night because she was too scared that something would come out from under her much larger bed.--

And I myself got pretty scared driving home from said girl's house, but then I turned up the HOT 97 (Tudais bes' hip ha an rnbee) and no more pissy little girl with long dirty hair.

BTW while we were waiting for that Ron to take what should have been a 10 minute subway ride from Times Square to LIC we got gave ourselves a little joyride tour of the factories and riverfronts in the heat of the night. mmmmmm what garbage and scariness we saw and what cute little places and cats tucked in between all that industrial garbage and scariness.

And did you know that Chools used to sweat Crank?
Of course you did.

Julie is putting on whore boots, we're almost ready to leave.

So Lev and I decided to jump on the bandwagon and start our very own blog. Accordions and Dogs by themselves are not our main concern, it is where the two meet that we find our common bondage.

We still don't know where the word "Blog" comes from. We don't care, we just like the attention, we like accordion dogs, and we might come to like you.

In the world of Ce Ce Peniston anything can happen, anything at all.

Some blogs serve a purpose, they are used to spread the word or to record history, ours will serve only ourselves, it will be our little cuban slave girl. We can do anything to it, color it, highlight it, italicize or perhaps not post at all. Yes, we will refuse you when we see fit. We need this kind of control, really, we do.

But we also have this thing where we can't write when we want to, or perhaps can't want to write when we can, so here will be our vehicle for ad;slkfjapsodifuqpowierufqwne;lknvssaohoefiu092384093824r0293 whenever we want.

whenever.

So now we're off to see the Ring 2 (were you expecting a nice little link?
